Concerns over budget and proposed names in metro's plan to rename geographical features

The DA in Ekurhuleni recently held a public meeting at the Alberton Civic Centre, co-hosted by Alberton DA ward councillors, to discuss the proposed renaming of geographical features in the metro.

At the meeting, residents allegedly indicated that the process the metro was set to undergo needed to be much more inclusive and transparent. According to Clr Malcolm Maifala, DA shadow MMC for community services in Ekurhuleni, one of the issues raised at the meeting was that all names submitted to the public did not have a motivation for the proposed name or the person who proposed the name.

Furthermore, the community raised its concerns about the availability of a budget allocation towards the project, should the names be approved.
