DA's Msimanga to meet regional leadership of militant Amcu union

The main opposition, the Democratic Alliance (DA), said on Monday its candidate for the post of premier for Gauteng province, Solly Msimanga, would meet the regional leaders of the Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (Amcu) in Carltonville to discuss the challenges workers face daily.

The party said Msimanga would also outline the DA’s plan to create fair access to jobs and a safe and conducive working environment for all employees. Amcu, which has been on a wage strike at Sibanye-Stillwater’s gold operations since November, said last week it would also down tools in the platinum and coal sectors from this week as a show of solidarity with the gold miners.
