South Africa Election 2019: IEC Chief Expecting An 80 Percent Voter Turnout

The South African 2019 general election is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, May 8, 2019.

The poll date was confirmed by President Cyril Ramaphosa during his State of the Nation address earlier this month. This will be the sixth election to be held since the end of the apartheid system in 1994.

While addressing members of the diplomatic corps in Pretoria on Tuesday, Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) chief Sy Mamaobolo said he is hoping for an 80 percent voter turnout in the upcoming South Africa 2019 election.
