DA wants Domestic Violence Act replaced

The Democratic Alliance says it wants police officers and court officials who fail in their duty to assist victims of domestic violence to be prosecuted.

This is one of the proposals contained in a private members bill the party plans to introduce before parliament, together with the Domestic Violence Act to be replaced by the Protection from Harassment Act. These proposals come a day before President Cyril Ramaphosa addresses a Special Sitting of both Houses of parliament on the on-going violence against women.
